Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour — 2 ¾ cups
  • Unsalted butter — 1 cup softened
  • White granulated sugar — ¾ cup
  • Brown sugar — ¾ cup
  • Large eggs — 2
  • Vanilla extract — 1 tsp
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips — 2 cups

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This temperature is ideal for baking cookies. While the oven heats up, prepare your ingredients. Use this time to crack the eggs into a separate bowl and whisk them, or to measure out the flour and sugar. When the oven is ready, you’re set to continue.
  2. Next, cream the butter and sugar together. Use an electric mixer or a whisk to mix until the mixture is light and fluffy. Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl. When it’s smooth and airy, you can move on to the next step.
  3. Now, add the eggs and vanilla extract. Add each egg one at a time, mixing well before adding the next. Use room temperature eggs for easier mixing. Once fully mixed, add the vanilla extract and combine.
  4. Next, slowly add the flour. Make sure it’s mixed in completely before adding the chocolate chips. As you add the flour, the mixture will become smooth. I recommend using a mix of all-purpose and bread flour for a better texture. After the flour is mixed in, stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Use a cookie scoop or a spoon to place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Shape each cookie into a rounded ball. Leave about 2 inches between each cookie to allow for spreading. When you’re done scooping, place the baking sheet in the oven.
  6. Bake the cookies at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. As they bake, enjoy the delightful aroma. Keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking. Once done, take the cookies out and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
